These few days, or even weeks, I've realized that there's so much commotion about Sun Xu, and this other Chinese guy who claimed that if PRCs were to get out of Singapore, Singaporeans would be eating "Xi Bei Feng", in other words, he thinks that without PRCs, we Singaporeans will be eating porridge at home. You can read more here

Now, I know that Singaporean Chinese, just like any other immigrants Chinese in the world (American Born Chinese), we are descendants of Chinese. But I guess what separates us, from SOME of the mainland Chinese, is our culture and values.

Some of the cultural and value differences which I would like to point out is that, we don't act like barbarians, killing those innocent animals. I'm sure you readers are aware of the Chinese killing dogs and whatnot, peeling their skins of in public and stuff. Seriously, we are living in the 21st century, and I think we ought to be a little more civilized.

Back to what I want to say about the articles. To kick off, I would want to tell that PRC guy, that even without them in Singapore, we can still survive. Yes, no doubt some industries in Singapore needs foreign talent, but I'm sure that whichever industry this PRC guy is from, we don't need them. I believe that we can easily replace this type of people, working in whatsoever industry. Seriously, who needs a PRC to take the job of an admin in a company when we can just hire poly graduates to do their jobs?

Secondly, I want to point out to those who are migrating or coming to work in Singapore, or Singaporeans who are going to work overseas. Now, when you are in other people's place, the least you could do, is to respect the people and their culture. It's hard to blend in initially, but it takes time. But the most important thing is that, you should always try and accept other's culture, and please be reminded that the particular country's social norm may be slightly different from the country you came from. I'm not going to pick on any particular race or country's people, but some of the things which I have seen it for myself when taking public transport is that, there's this group of people who always speak really loudly on the phone. If the train is very noisy, I won't blame them for it, but the train is really quiet. And even when they are talking to another person on the bus/train, do you mind keeping your voices down? It's just basic courtesy.

I do try and tolerate some of the taboos that foreigners commit when they're in Singapore, because I accept the fact that they are relatively new to this country, and even if they aren't, I don't really blame them because they still have habits which are considered to be a norm back in their country.

What I really cannot tolerate about the PRC guy, is that, since you're in Singapore, using our resources and taking advantages of what our government gives to you, the minimum you could do, is to RESPECT US. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO SUN XU. I don't give a fuck whether you're rich, smart, scholarship holder or what shit that is. RESPECT US.
